These pictures describe this family :) They were so much fun to work with, even if it took little {e} a little while to warm up to me. This location was perfect! Being new to the area I am not familiar with great photography locations. So after doing a little research and talking to a few other photographers we decided to meet up at Mile High Station. The surrounding area is amazing, and we just hit a few of the spots. Let the pictures show you....

Another great family :) We had pretty over cast weather, but at least it wasn't freezing!!! We met up at CU-Boulder. Amazing architecture! Loved all the old doors, brick buildings, climbing vines.... too bad we didn't have much time before the light was gone, so many great spots. Thanks {m} family!

They brought this chair with them and between the wind and dirt we forgot to use it :) {n} sat in it while I took pictures of mom and dad and I couldn't help but snap a picture of her.

The 2 things EVERY session should include (and be printed after :)

a shot of mom and dad. So many moms and dads have their wedding shot as the last professional picture of them together. We change too, we need to remember to capture that :)

AND a shot of just mom. How many of us moms are always behind the camera? I know in my family I am the picture snapper and I don't make too many appearances in front of the camera. Also, so many women have small businesses or blogs that we contribute too. Wouldn't it be nice to add a professional shot of yourself? And if not for anything else, our kids will have a picture of us 20-30 years from now. {c} was great and went along with it. She is beautiful!

I love newborns!! They are the longest and in a way, the hardest, to work with, but I LOVE capturing those sweet moments when they are just a few days old. They are so innocent and precious and OH so sweet :) I also love seeing the love that mom and dad have for the sweet new baby and the love and excitement older siblings have.

Here is one of my latest families. This was such a great family (I know I say that every time, but the best part of my job is I get to meet great family after great family!). We met up at the Adams County Fairgrounds on a SUPER windy day! But they were determined to get their family shots done before the Holidays began and I am glad we did. We got some fantastic shots and no one would guess we were about to get blown away :)

Aside from choosing a photographer, one of the hardest and most stressful things is clothing.

How much should you match?

What colors look good together?

Will the colors clash with the location?

What clothes do we have that go together?

etc....etc...

These are questions that I am sure most of us have asked ourselves. I will admit, clothing choice is my most dreaded thing about family pictures. So for those of you like me, who need a little inspiration, check it out below.

With Christmas just around the corner, if you haven't had your pictures taken, now is the time to get it done. Here are some ideas that will help make your family Christmas photo look great.

These ideas have just a hint of the holidays in them with out over doing it :)

I found this location in Lincoln Nebraska last fall and fell in love with it!!! You can't go wrong with old wooden garage doors with fresh green ivy growing up them. I was able to take these pictures of a family friend before we headed out to Colorado. I love how they turned out! They are such a great family and so much fun to photograph. You can see the fun they have together and the love they have for each other in their pictures! Thanks {J} family!

Wow what a day (and a lot of ones :). This year has flown by, I can't believe we are already in November! Things should slow down with Halloween over. I make my kids costumes and I procrastinate so the month of October, particularly the last couple weeks, are always so hectic for me.

Anyway, now that things have slowed down, I thought I would finish the post I started. Here is the rest of the {R} family. Seriously great couple with the one of the cutest little guys! I love the mountains in the background of these!

Yes, a song title from the wonderful John Denver, a favorite of my husbands. We are now living near the Rockies, so I found it appropriate to use :)

I wasted no time and started right up with a photo session after living here 2 weeks. I got to meet and work with the {R} family. They took me (yes they picked the location, I still have not explored the area for great picture places yet) to the greatest pumpkin patch. We met up at Rock Creek Farms, which when I asked them to meet me there I thought it would be like the little pumpkin patches in Nebraska. Well I was wrong. This place had acres and acres of pumpkins and no real 'front' location to meet. Luckily we found each other and had a great morning!

Haven't edited them all, but I just LOVED this one. Enjoy!

So we made the move and are settling into Colorado just fine. Started getting back to work on the pictures that I took right before I left the great state of Nebraska. Here was one of my final families. It wasn't the greatest day for pictures, but it was less than a week before my moving date so we went ahead and took them. The fog didn't seem to interfere to much, because I think we were able to get some great shots. Enjoy!

Well latest news..... We sold our home!!

So I am no Longer booking sessions here in Nebraska.

Wow!! These last few weeks (or few months :) have been crazy!! Trying to get your house ready to sell and actually trying to keep it clean while selling it has turned out to be a lot more time consuming than I imagined. DIY: Faux Gallery Wrap Canvas

So I have had this idea bouncing around in my head for a while and I finally sat down and put it all together. I thought I would share this with any of my crafty followers :) I am not sure how long it will last. I didn't use Acid free glues, but I figured it will last long enough for me.

***A few things I would change next time (may help to read this after you have read instructions).****

1.When scoring your picture use your frame. If you are like me I am not very exact and my frame ended up being a smidgen too big.

2. Use hot glue. I used Tacky glue for one side and it took FOREVER to dry, plus it ended up being wavy. The other 3 sides I used my hot glue gun. I warmed it for 1/2 hour to make sure it was nice and hot and wouldn't make my edge bumpy. Worked lovely!

Because we are getting ready to sale our home I placed my picture on an Isle.

Materials needed:

Boards (I used post sticks sold at Walmart)

Wood Glue/Tacky Glue

Staple Gun

Paper Clip

Cutting Board

Exacto knife

Ruler

Picture

Start by cutting your boards/sticks. I had a 16x24 picture that I needed to make a frame for. My sticks were 1/2 inch thick so I made my frame 15x23.

Glue the end of one stick

Press sticks together and staple. I put 2 staples on one side and one staple on the other. You may also need to hammer the staple in so they are nice and tight. Repeat for remaining 3 sides.

Finished frame. Look how nice and square it is :)

Get your pictures and cut out a square from each corner. The measurement of the square comes from the thickness of your board/sticks. I cut out a 1/2 x 1/2 inch square from each corner.

***This is when I would place my frame on the picture and use it as a guide to score the edges and then cut my corners out****

Now score your picture. Take your ruler and line it up with the corner of the 2 squares that are on the same side. Hold the ruler and press the paper clip along the edge.

I put a blanket on my table and set the picture face down on it so is wouldn't get scratched and it would stay clean. Get your frame and put plenty of tacky glue on one side.

***This is when I would use hot glue. Much faster and makes a much cleaner edge. Just watch out for hot glue strings so they don't get on your picture.***

Place frame on your picture and fold picture over on scored line. Press frame firmly to picture. Repeat gluing and folding for remaining 3 sides.

You are finished!! Congrats! If anyone else tries this I would love to hear how it went and would LOVE to see pictures :)

You can buy a professional 16x24 Gallery Wrap Canvas for $80-$175. I made mine for about $8. I printed my picture at Adorama during their yearly sale in November for $5. And the sticks were at Walmart for about $1 a piece. What do you think about that savings?

My husband got a job in Colorado and we will no longer be students!!!

I have LOVED Lincoln so much. I have never lived in a place with so many friendly people and so much available for the family to do.

I will miss Lincoln.

I will miss the wonderful families I have met.

I look forward to the new adventure. Change isn't my favorite thing, but all the new things and having a steady income :) will help me get through it. Continue to watch my blog. If I make a trip out this way I would love to schedule some photo sessions.

Life is crazy busy! Sorry for those that have contacted me and I haven't got back to you! Between sicknesses, being mom of 3 and photography (not to name my other hobbies :) life is always busy. At the end of the session we were wondering if we got any good ones. Well after looking through them all I couldn't decide on which ones were my favorite. Funny how that happens, but when you have such an adorable little subject whats not to love about the picture!

My little guy is 9 months old.

9 MONTHS!!

Where did the time go? He is growing so fast. It doesn't help that he is the size of a 12-18 month old :)

Here is a warning!!! I take images in a format that is fantastic for editing, but drains the color so not so great to the eye :). So the images you will see in your online album will not be enhanced. The ones that you choose will be enhanced and put on a CD.

Gotta love 'em! Especially on a handsome little 2 year old!

Had a great session with {m}. He did such a great job! Grandpa brought his Mustang (which he restored himself) along for the pictures. I love the picture with his reflection in the paint, that tells you what a nice shine the car had!

Can you believe how beautiful November has been? Okay, all but this last week and a half. I had a lot of families schedule for early November and every single one of them turned out beautiful!

I got to meet and play with another great family. {a} just turned one and was loving the freedom of movement that she had :) This age just loves to be on the move!! We got her to slow down for a few moments and got some great shots. And of course got some pictures of her beautiful blue eyes!

Meet my neighbors. They are seriously the BEST neighbors! The kids play great together, they are always willing to lend us things, she brings us yummy food and she is amazing at sewing!! She made the shirt that her daughter is wearing. Amazing I tell you!

This little girl just melted my heart!! She is so perfect and beautiful! Mom had sweet {e} 3 weeks early, so by the time I got home from vacation this little pea was 3 weeks old. She did such a great job and I LOVED all the hair bows that mom brought (which I am told can be found at Hobby Lobby :).

It was great to meet you mom and dad!! You have a perfect little baby! I had a great time and I hope you LoVe your picture!!

Here is another GREAT family!! I can't believe I met them only a year ago! After seeing them every 3 months makes it feel like I have known them forever!

Mom wanted some fun fall pictures so we headed to Sunwest Farms. I thought it was so much fun and I had a great time playing with the direct sunlight.

Well the big {j} is 1! Crazy to me, but probably more crazy to mom and dad :)

I had a great time with the {m} family. {m} boy was a runner, but we were able to get some great shots of him :) And miss {m} did great at sitting up being only 5 months!!

The first year we moved here I ran by this area a few times a week on one of the local bike trails. We had our first Nebraska family pictures taken at this same location. I love it! I love the trees, the path, the bridges, the buildings, and the many friendly bikers/runners that are always on the trail.

Anyway, meet the {b} family. They are such a great family! Full of personality and they weren't giving into any of my photographer tricks :) The lighting was perfect that night and the temperature was actually warm (amazing what a few weeks can do with the temperature :)

I got to go spend the morning out in the country with this beautiful young lady and her mother:) I grew up on a farm and felt right at home here. I was out at this farm last year taking {k}'s older brothers pictures. {k} will be graduating this following year 2011!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!!

I met up with the {s} family a couple weeks ago. They traveled all the way from Omaha and the weather turned out not so great. We were able to get a few good shots before the rain ran us out. Here are my favorites, Enjoy!

absolutely LOVED the idea of the mirror. {a} loved it too and had a great time playing with the lil' man in the mirror!

{d} was playing with the umbrella while we were waiting for the rain to slow. I loved how this unexpected shot turned out.

{a} is turning one and they wanted to get some cake eating pictures of him, so we rescheduled another shoot. This day didn't turn out the greatest either, very cloudy. But we had a good time and {a} got to make a mess of the cake :)

I know I have said it before, but one of the great things about being a photographer is meeting so many great families. The {l} family is no exception! We had a great time and I loved some of the sweet candid shots that I was able to capture. Plus you have got to LOVE the little kiddos eyes. Different colors, but both are amazing.

So a few weeks ago I met up with another local photographer to swap ideas and learn from each other. Our practice subjects were our kiddos and each other. We had a great time at East Campus and it was great to get to know another photographer.

Little {p} recently turned 2! I was so excited to see him again, because I met him last year for his 1 year pictures! Mom wanted to do the same location (mainly the red door) as last year and I thought they turned out great! {p} did a great job and LOVED playing with his balloons :) Thanks for the good time! Enjoy!

What a Joy!! I forgot that babies start out so small. I can't believe it was only 4 months ago when my little guy was this little. Well, actually, he wasn't ever this little :)

I was able to capture her little yawns at the end of the session. I wore her right out :)

While taking senior pictures this year I have been thinking back to my own senior year of High School. I remember thinking I had so much to do and not enough time. Passing classes, hanging with friends and going on dates were the most important things in my life. And now I am thinking.. wow what a life! Now those years seem easy, but I would never do them over again :)

Anyway, here is {a} my latest senior boy. We had such a fun time. He is so easy going, a little crazy, super funny and all around a great guy. Enjoy!

Since moving to Nebraska I have been able to meet wonderful people and make lifelong friends.

Meet the {w} family, my dear, dear friends. Mr {w} graduated and got a job, so they had to move away from me. Before they left I talked them into letting me take their last family pictures here in good 'ol Nebraska.

{w} family, I hope you enjoy them and we miss you already!

I had to post this picture. We gave him fruit snacks so I could get a few more pictures of him and he shoved them all in his mouth at once. funny kid :)

This was another awesome session. I have photographed {j}'s milestones since he was born. I cannot believe he is already 9 months! He is such a joy to photograph! I loved the guitar that mom and dad brought, it made for some rocking pictures!!

Great word to describe this session, wish we would have had a breeze during the hot, humid, sticky session!!

As promised here are a few more of my favorites from my session last weekend. I had so much fun with these guys and the pictures turned out so good, I had a hard time limiting my pictures to post.

Meet {g}. We met up at Pioneer Park last week for his senior shoot. It turned out a storm was coming and we finished just before the crazy rain started. {g} is a great kid and so much fun to hang out with! Thanks for the great time. Good luck with this coming school year!

Well I have ignored my blog and e-mail for quite sometime. Trying to enjoy my little family and honestly 3 kids is A LOT of work! Kudos to those who have mastered it! This past week my family took a MUCH needed vacation to Colorado and my goal was to take some landscape shots, so I thought I would share them with you:

I have been scoping out some new locations and working on some new photo editing techniques. So I have been taking plenty of pictures of my kiddos! Here are a few of my favorite from all of my playing around.

My little girl turned 3 this month, (once I get a few more edited I will have to post them, I loved how they turned out!!)

Well it has been quite a week! My little guy arrived last Monday, April 26th, and life has been a whirlwind since :) He is now a week old and I feel my little baby is already growing WAY too fast!!

He weighed in at 9 lbs 13 oz and 22 1/2 inches long. He surprised us all by his size :) Everything went well and baby and I are recovering well.

Here are a few pictures I have taken. I am enjoying him and trying to cherish every minute of this newborn stage.

This one I took in the hospital at 3 days old. Bryan LGH has great window lighting in there rooms.

These ones are at 6 days old. He is already changing SO much!!

If you are dying to know my little mans name please e-mail me. On my blog he will be referred to as {i}. Never can be too careful :) Thanks!!

Here was my last session before baby #3 comes. I have got to watch {j} man grow from just a wee little baby :) It is hard to believe that was 6 months ago. I loved the sports theme that he was sporting and had a hard time picking just a few, so enjoy the pictures :)

Doesn't she just make you want to smile :) Even though the tree's and flowers still have no color, the weather is turning warmer and the bright clothing is coming out!

{k} is such a sweetheart! We had a tough time getting her to smile, but mom said this is her, and I think pictures that show the true personality are the best! Thanks for the great time {k}, you are a little ray of sunshine!

{a} has turned 1! We got together after her big bash and did her smash the cake session. She wasn't too interested in the cake, so we got some great pictures of the cake un-smashed :) She loved the little candies on top, but they weren't a very good idea for a one year old, a little scary, but all turned out well.

We had a great time and her she is in all her glory:

Last week I got to photography {i} again and his new little brother {b}, not so new, but new to me :) The weather had finally warmed up and we had a great time downtown. Here are the ones that we captured. Enjoy!!

Here are the 2 boys together. I just love the brotherly love that {i} showed towards {b}. So sweet.

Here is {b}. He is 6 months old and did a pretty good job at sitting up. He just enjoyed sitting sideways :)

I have been able to photograph {k}'s baby sister a few times and even got to include {k} in her newborn shoot. This was my first time with {k} alone and she did an excellent job. She is such a silly girl and had her tongue out or twisted in most the pictures. Here are a few that I thought showed her sweet and silly personality. Enjoy :)

This little girls was oh so sweet! I have photographed her siblings a few times and she arrived during my crazy busy season last fall, so I wasn't able to do her newborn pictures, what a shame :) Here {l} is, 3 months old and as perfect as can be. Enjoy the pictures!

I have been wanting to try this picture for a while and {l} was nice enough to model in it for me. I thought it was perfect for Easter; A sweet little birdie in her nest :)

A little warmer (not by much :)......

A few weeks ago I got to meet with Mr {b} again to capture a few 2 year old shots. Any of you that have 2 year olds know that the best option is outdoors. So we scheduled him for an outdoor shoot. This day was a little warmer than it had been (meaning, no feelings of frostbite on exposed skin :), but not by much. He did a great job braving the cold. Too bad we didn't wait a few weeks, this last weekend was wonderful! Enjoy the pictures.

We had to take a break and go indoors. This was a shot I snapped while we were warming up.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wow what a busy week. I love holidays because there is always something to do or make to help entertain the kiddos and to help you get into the holiday spirit. We made A LOT of valentine cards this week, now we have to get them all out (I know the holiday is over, but better late than never :)

Anyway, here is little Miss {h}. She is such a joy! She is 3 months old now (yes she was one of my many newborns. Click here to see how much she has grown) and just as calm and sweet as ever. I had a great time with her and her mom. I love all the color she chose for these pictures. **Good-bye dreary winter and Hello spring (if only the weather would do the same).**

This girl is such a doll. When she first arrived she had all the smiles in the world for me, I guess I am not as funny when I am behind the camera :) I was still able to catch a fewshots of her beautiful smile. I got to spend the day with this little jewel. Isn't she adorable? She was 10 days old and still SO tiny. She didn't want to sleep much, so we got plenty of awake shots, which I think makes her look much older. I also made 2 new hats and {o} was nice enough to try them on and model them for me. Enjoy!

This little girl reminds me much of my own. I love her little rolls!
I haven't seen {l} since her newborn session (check it out here) and here she is already 6 months old! She loves her daddy and gave him the sweetest smiles, which worked out great for the pictures. My favorites are the ones with the feathers and beads, isn't that what girls are made of?

Baby boy comes the first of May.

So.... if you would like to schedule a session in 2010 my appointments are very limited. I will not be scheduling appointments for May or June. With the new addition I will be cutting back on my scheduled sessions, so if you would like an appointment for 2010 please schedule early.
