Note From the Photographer

HI! I'm Becky Anderson. I am a natural light photographer. I find that natural light captures the emotion and personality of those I photograph best.

I do the majority of my photographs outdoors for two reasons. One, I love the element that nature, with its deep hues and filtered light, brings to the photo. Second, the natural light in the openness of the great outdoors brings an artistic element to photos that is gorgeous and unique.

If you are interested in scheduling a session or have any questions, please e-mail me at b.anderson.photography@gmail.com

I hope you enjoy my capture of life's greatest moments.

I am located in Thornton Colorado and serve the north Denver area. Also willing to travel, please contact me.

Homegrown Monday....5280 Bliss

Wow it has been a while! I am still here and alive, but October was a whirlwind of craziness around our house. So here we go for our first Homegrown Monday and I am SO excited to introduce her. We seriously have some crazy talented people here in the Denver area! So no more talking from me..

Where did the name come from?
I was messing around with the word “scarf” and was thinking of the disastrous name “Scarf Face” when it hit me that I should take out the second “f” and make it a play on the more famous name “Scar Face”

Where are you located?
Right now I’m still in Denver – but who know when that could change…

Do you have a storefront, website, blog, Facebook or Etsy? Yes, you can find me on Etsy and Twitter
And possibly a blog to come.

Photos courtesy of Scarf-Ace
When did you start your business?
I started this business about a year ago as a way to slowly curb my ever-growing yarn stash – and to fund all the new yarns that I wanted to buy.

Tell us about your family?
Just me and a very curious, box-loving kitten named Clio.

Tell us about your product and the concepts behind it:
While scarves can be seen as a simple accessory, I feel that scarves (or shawls or cowls) can be as dramatic, complex or elegant as any other piece of clothing. I wanted to blend color, texture and size to create items that everyone could enjoy.

What makes your product/business so unique?
Rather than finding one or two patterns I like and then make it in several different colors, I try to never use the same pattern twice. I want to create unique items that are truly one of a kind – either through the pattern or through use of color and texture.

Where are you from?
Denver, CO

What is your favorite place to eat?
This is a little hard to answer as my brother’s a chef in New York – so I have a bunch of favorites! Right now though I love Linger in the Denver Highlands.

Photos courtesy of Scarf-Ace

What is your favorite color?
I don’t think I can pick just one! I love blues and greens, browns, reds and purples – nearly everything but pink!

Favorite piece of clothing or accessory?
Besides scarves? LOL. Give me a great pair of socks and I’m happy.

Favorite vacation spot?
My dream vacation spot would probably be Europe, but out of the places I’ve been I love the Oregon Coast.

Photos courtesy of Scarf-Ace

What makes you smile?
My cat Clio makes me smile everyday with all of her crazy antics – except when she tries to eat my yarn.

When you have free time what is your favorite thing to do?
Knit! And curl up with a good book.

So how did you like her stuff? Isn't she Fabulous? I LOVE love LOVE all the textures and colors! What a great way to add a pop of color to your next family pictures :) *hint..hint* And best part, just for reading this feature she is giving you a discount of 15% off any item in her shop!!

Leave me some love and tell me which one is your favorite!

Homegrown Friday....{Thornton CO Photographer}

Here we are back up and running! August was a nice break, but now that school is in and the weather is cooling down it is time to get back to work. We have some FABULOUS features coming up that I am super excited for! So check back every other Friday for a new spotlight on an amazing Colorado business.

First up.......

Meet Katie
from

Where did the name come from?
I had been praying for a unique name to express my style and honor my faith in Jesus. One day I was checking the weather on my phone and the forecast said ‘Abundant sunshine’ and when I said it out loud I told my husband I hadn’t ever heard the weather forecast described that way, at least not very often. But it sounds fun and refreshing and energizing! He suggested I use that for my shop name but change the ‘sunshine’ to ‘Sonshine,’ in reference to Jesus being the Son of God. I squealed with excitement because it was perfect! Immediately the verse in Ephesians 3 , verse 20 came to mind: Now, to Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we could think or ask for. And that verse has become the mantra of my shop.

Do you have a storefront, website, blog, Facebook or Etsy? I have a Etsy Shop and Facebook

When did you start your business? I opened my shop in March of 2011.

Tell us about your family?
I have an amazing husband who supports me in all my creative and sometimes impulsive ideas! He encourages me to use my talents and pursue my business. He thinks my fabric obsession is a bit compulsive but he still loves me. I also have 3 amazing kids: Evalyn {3}, Caleb {2}, and Eli {6 mo}. I am so blessed to be able to work at home, and work around being with my family. They come first and I’m grateful to have their support.

Tell us about your product and the concepts behind it:
I make little girl’s outfits and dresses. I love fabric and colors and mix and matching them to find fun combinations. I’m working on adding a few boy items soon, too! The Lord put adoption on my heart and helping families who wish to adopt and so I am blessed to be able to give a portion of each sale to fund a family’s adoption. We hope to be one of those families adopting a sweet child some day!

What are your secrets for having a business while raising a family?
I hear ‘I don’t know how you do it’ a lot. Honestly, I don’t either! Ha! I can tell you that utilizing naptime and having a play area in my sewing room are extremely helpful. My husband makes sure the kids are taken care of so I can have blocks of time to sew. He is my accountant, so he can take care of the money side while I get to be creative! And the real secret is that I have lowered my expectations of order and tidiness. ; )

Who is your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspiration isn't a ‘who,’ but a what. It’s the beauty that I see in God’s creation all around. I love bright colors and the diversity in all of His creations.

Where are you from?  Aurora, CO

What is your favorite color?
It’s hard to pick just one! But if I have to choose just one, it would be teal or aqua.

Favorite vacation spot?
Ah, the beach. I can feel the sand in my toes and the salty breeze on my face…

What makes you smile?
When I think about how God has worked everything out in my life; that I’m not alone when He calls me to do something, and that He cares about the details, too. My sweet family and thinking about my little’s make me smile. :)

When you have free time what is your favorite thing to do?
What free time?! Just kidding, I really do love to sew, even in my free time. I love to crochet and of course, there is always Pinterest for a good zapping of free time!

Homegrown Friday....{Thornton Colorado Photographer}

So a few years ago I learned how to crochet and became addicted to yarn.

Buying yarn, looking at yarn, feeling yarn, and looking at all the wonderful things I could do with yarn.

Sadly, just like many of my other crafty addictions it turned more into a hoarding hobby than an actual crafting hobby :) So years later I still have those many, many, many, skeins of yarn but have no energy or motivation to make anything out of it.

So today I would like to introduce a little eye candy for all those yarn lovers like myself :) I LOVE her hats and the best part is if you are an actual crocheter (is that a word??) or knitter you can buy her pattern to make it yourself.
